the Lagos State government please make jungle justice a crime
punishable by many years in prison? This can't continue happening. We as
citizens can't keep taking the laws into our hands. Other wise innocent
people will suffer too. The pics from this scene is so gory, I don't
know if I should share it.<br /><br />The woman pictured above was accused
of attempting to to kidnap the primary school pupils in the Ekoro area
of Abule-Egba, Lagos yesterday May 6th. Eye-witnesses claim the woman
stopped the kids, who were aged 7-10 years as they were going to school,
and asked to take them to school.<br /><img alt="" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqXg7AQaordanykOQtNIC-5a8wvwqfyNUpKmmExBAOXygYlQ3MmddwD7Ccsu_z8vWNWv9rRZd2RCTVTXpkaYyIm8W0064PRaBPY7XhFJlhvw8YAYwjXUl3J200emHvqQWK15uxcFTkXIQ/s1600/2.jpg" /><br />Then
a female hawker in the area, suspecting the woman was up to no good,
alerted others in the area who then surrounded the woman and started
asking her questions. They say the woman they were her children but
couldn't give their names and the direction she was taking them wasn't
where their school was...plus the children said they didn't know her and
before anyone could stop it, they descended on the woman. Beating her
to a stupor and then setting her ablaze.<br /><br /> See the gory pics from the scene after the cut...will take it down in a bit...<br /><img alt="" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbpxWny5-mpmx-5aCZoOIWfOjVUjQAgPuWsqAitAJOLPTBSwFs0gp4hxlHfBsVC-wwLrdB-Yi6FmSgdmOMg6z331QcRE-qHNgTjl6Qtv1sAXsgmuqVBHan7YgMNozdnTzgqZ-Rf39TEDw/s1600/unnamed.jpg" />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00119074768155355579noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9166161821983205036.post-67095032363906361792014-04-11T02:44:00.001-07:002014-04-11T02:44:20.701-07:00Fallen High Tension Wire Electrocuted Six People in Oworonshoki Area of Lagos <h1>

tragedy occurred at Onabanjo Street, Oworonshoki around 2.00am. It was
gathered that the high tension wire cut into two as a result of the
heavy rain.<br /><br />The high tension wire cut and fell across a drainage
channel and caught fire when it came in contact with wood. Two vehicles
parked beside the wood were burnt by the fire ignited by the wood.<br /><br />The
incident occurred in front of houses on number 6 to 10 on the street.
While the fire that burnt the vehicles was raging, residents raise the
alarm for others to escape from the scene.<br /><br />The victims who were
electrocuted did not know what was happening when they ran out of their
houses ran in a bid to escape and stepped on the naked wire.<br />Pictures of the victims after the cut, viewer discretion highly advised.<br />Others who were injured were rushed to the hospital.<br /><br />According to an eye witness:<br />“people ran away from their houses in different directions and stepped on the high tension wire and they <br />were
immediately electrocuted. It was about 30 minutes later that
electricity supply was cut off after the tragedy had occurred.”<br />He said among the six people who died were a woman with her three children and another pregnant woman with a child.<br /><br />Another
drama played out at the scene as the husband of the woman said to have
lost his wife and three children drank poison and had been rushed to
Afolabi Hospital in the area.<br /><br />An eye witness gave the names of
those who died as Iya Fatima, who died with her child and Iya
Jonathan, who was pregnant and died with her children, adding that
another boy, called Basit was also electrocuted.<br /><br />According to
him, the deceased were taken to the mortuary of a hospital in Yaba as
they were rejected at the Gbagada General Hospital.<br /><br />Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Mr. Rasak Fadipe confirmed the incident to reporters.<br />He
said those who died included two female, including a pregnant woman and
three teenagers, saying that the fire was prevented from spreading to
nearby buildings.<br /><br />Really sad. May their souls rest in peace. <span class="fsb-count"><br /></span></div>
<strong><img alt="safety-tips-for-women-confident-protection-careful-activity-emergency" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-27270" src="http://www.olaalaa.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/safety-tips-for-women-confident-protection-careful-activity-emergency.jpg" height="307" width="350" /></strong><br />
1. Always be aware of your surroundings<br />
This applies whether you are traveling alone or in groups. Don’t just
focus inwardly on your thoughts if you are alone, or your friends if you
are together. Keep one eye out for your environment, looking out for
suspicious characters, possible danger, etc.<br />
Also, don’t assume that because your area has been “safe” thus far, that it will continue to be so.<br />
<strong>2. Travel in groups</strong><br />
“There is safety in numbers” is not just a cliche. Its true. Make a
point of traveling together with other sisters, whether its on public
transportation, on campus, in cars, etc.<br />
<strong>3. Change the route you normally travel by</strong><br />
If you have taken the same bus<br />
<a name='more'></a>, train or highway to get to work or
school, change your route. Even if it takes you a little longer, your
safety is more important. By changing your route, you can avert possible
attacks or harassment from those who know your schedule, method and
route of travel well. Please note though that you should avoid short
cuts that take you through unfamiliar or unsafe areas.<br />
<strong>4. Look confident</strong><br />
Walk with a straight posture and your arms swinging by your sides. Avoid
slouching or walking like a victim. This makes you an easy target for
attackers.<br />
<strong>5. When riding by public transportation choose the right seat</strong><br />
If you are riding by bus or train, do not sit on the window seat as you
may be “blocked in” by a potential assailant. Always select the seat
next to the aisle so that you can quickly leave if necessary.<br />
If you are taking public transportation alone after peak hours, sit
as close to the driver as possible and/or choose the section of the
bus/train that is most crowded. Try to get a seat near the exit as well.<br />
<strong> 6. If you are driving alone</strong><br />
Don’t think that if you are in a car, you are safe. Windows should be up
and doors locked even when driving to avoid unwanted passengers at
intersections. When you are walking to your car, always have your keys
ready, so that you can quickly get into your car.<br />
But don’t just get in right away. Always check your car before entering, especially the back, for any intruders.<br />
<strong>7. Never leave your car door unlocked</strong><br />
Even if it means for one minute to drop something off in the mailbox
that’s a few feet away. Attackers have been known to lie in wait for
such an opportunity.<span id="more-27269"></span><br />
<strong>8. Be careful in parking lots</strong><br />
Always be alert in parking lots, especially when it’s dark. Ask someone
to escort you to your car. Between cars and inside cars, it’s easy for
someone to hide and wait until an unalert person comes along.<br />
<strong>9. If you are traveling by taxi</strong><br />
Always check the identification of the driver (usually located near the
visor) and ensure that it matches the driver. Once inside, don’t sit
behind the driver as it may be easy for the driver to lock the rear
passenger door. Always choose the adjacent seat .<br />
In addition, avoid flagging taxis. Always order taxis so the driver can be traced if something happens.<br />
10. Don’t use the Walkman<br />
If you’re used to listening to your Walkman while outside, drop this
habit, especially in isolated areas. With your Walkman on, you cannot
hear the approach of a possible attacker.<br />
<strong> 11. Note “safe houses” along your route</strong><br />
Mentally note houses at intervals on each route you take that can be
used as “safe houses” if you are attacked, such as shops or houses that
you know to be occupied by a friend or acquaintance.<br />
<strong>12. When you make a call from a phone booth</strong><br />
After dialing the number you wish to call always turn around so that you
have your back to the phone and may see who or what is coming your way.
You will then be able to tell the person to whom you are speaking that
you may be in trouble and you may be able to use the weight of the phone
as a weapon. The door of a telephone box could be used to wedge in the
limbs of the attacker.<br />
<strong>13. Do not open the door of your home without checking</strong><br />
DO NOT open the door to your home without first checking from a window,
peephole or by asking and verifying who it is. Instruct children to do
the same.<br />
<strong>14. Report any suspicious activity around your home</strong><br />
If you see people loitering on the streets near your house, call the
police on an emergency number and report it immediately without thinking
too much.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00119074768155355579noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9166161821983205036.post-29425145791272257002014-03-20T09:54:00.001-07:002014-03-24T04:39:38.934-07:00GEJ Orders Moro To Refund N1,000 Fee To Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) Job Seekers<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<h3 class="post-title entry-title" itemprop="name">
<span style="font-weight: normal;">President Goodluck Jonathan has reportedly ordered embattled
Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, to refund the N1,000 application fee
collected from job seekers who were to write the ill fated Nigerian
Immigration Service (NIS) aptitude test that turned sour at the weekend.</span></h3>
Scores of youths lost their lives in a stampede in Abuja and several
other cities, including pregnant women, when they presented themselves
for the screening exercise organised by the NIS.<br />
The President had on Monday summoned both the minister and
Comptroller General of the NIS, David Paradang, apparently to explain
their roles in the recruitment tragedy.<br />
On its part, the House of Representatives ordered investigation into
the death of about 20 applicants at some venues of the NIS recruitment
exercise.<br />
The House joint Committee on Interior, Labour and <br />
<a name='more'></a>Productivity,
Public Service Matters, and Justice was mandated to organise an
investigative public hearing on the matter, and report back its findings
within four weeks.<br />
Senate similarly mandated its Committee on Interior to investigate the recruitment tragedy.<br />
The resolution of the House was a fall-out of a motion at Tuesday
plenary under Matters of Urgent Public Importance by a member, Karimi
Sunday, who expressed concerns on the manner the exercise was conducted,
leading to the death of innocent job seekers.<br />
The House while condemning the tragedy, further called on the Federal
Government to take steps towards identifying relatives of the deceased
victims, and offer them automatic employments, since in members’
opinion, the victims died in active service to the nation.<br />
The House also commiserated with the families of the deceased, as
well as empathise with those who suffered injuries as a result of the
exercise.<br />
It resolved that henceforth, all mass recruitment exercises into
Federal Government agencies must be done via the internet, and in more
conducive environment than that of last Saturday.<br />
The NIS had last September advertised vacancies for recruitment into various positions in its service.<br />
Several thousands of job seekers responded, culminating in the
weekend’s massive turn out for the aptitude test the NIS organised
across Nigeria.<br />
Official information available was that only 4,500 vacancies across board existed in the Immigration Service.<br />
But Sunday, while leading debate on the motion, lamented that “in
Lagos alone, about 70,000 youths showed up at the stadium for the test.
In Ibadan, the Liberty Stadium played host to about 20,000 Nigerian
youths.<br />
“In Abuja, the 60,000 capacity National Stadium was overcrowded with
70,000 youths. In Ilorin, 25,000 candidates showed up like a sea of
heads at the llorin Stadium.<br />
“In Benin, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, 26,000 Nigerian youths
trooped in, all in a bid to write the aptitude test. The Sani Abacha
Stadium in Kano played host to 15,800 youths.<br />
“In Benue State 17,800 youths took part in the exercise and in Port
Harcourt, about 23,000 candidates enrolled for the recruitment
exercise,” the lawmaker added.<br />
He argued further that “despite the crises and insecurity in the
North East, Gombe and Borno states played host to about 5,000 applicants
each, while in Sokoto State 10,000 applicants participated in the
recruitment exercise.<br />
“This was the same trend in other state capitals on the said date.”<br />
He also said it was baffling that even when applicants were requested
to come to the test centres in sport outfits, there was no record of
physical test conducted, and that “only about 20 per cent of the
candidates were able to participate in recruitment process as a result
of its poor organisation”.<br />
Sunday said the large turnout and poor organisation resulted in chaos
and stampede in all the centres, recalling that “at least about 21
deaths were reported from the exercise”, including pregnant women.<br />
He also raised questions that the high response to the advertisement
and the fact that the Nigerian Immigration Service may have realised
approximately N1 billion from the sale of recruitment forms.<br />
“Why then could the Service not properly organise a recruitment test
or programme? Why did the Service not conduct an internet based
recruitment tests?<br />
“Why could the aptitude test not have been conducted in conducive
educational centres in batches all over the nation? Why was it so poorly
co-ordinated that it resulted in the death of innocent and helpless
Nigerians?”<br />
The House unanimously adopted the suggestion by the lawmaker that the
Federal Government work in conjunction with the state and local
governments and public spirited individuals and organisations, including
religious groups, to evolve a job creation scheme that will best
address the unemployment situation in Nigeria.<br />
Several members who spoke took turns to condemn the loss of lives,
especially that the victims were Nigerians innocently seeking jobs.<br />
According to Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro,
must take responsibility for the incidents, while steps are taken to
ensure that the consultant who handled the exercise refunds all monies
collected from applicants, and the families of victims duly compensated.<br />
Also in his submissions, Bitrus Kaze expressed concerns that there
were reports that members of the National Assembly were allocated slots
in the ongoing recruitment process, a development he denied having
knowledge of.<br />
Peter Akpatason on the other hand described the incident as a
fall-out of long existing systemic decay in Nigeria, and that it was an
act of criminal negligence of duty which should be punished.<br />
He also argued that the unusual turnout could be attributed to attempts
at covering “up some certain things” which the investigation must seek
to uncover.<br />
However, a member of the House who was one time Speaker of the
Plateau State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Go’ar, at a news conference in
Jos accused those calling for the heads of the Interior Minister, Abba
Moro, and Comptroller General of Immigration, David Paradang, over the
recruitment tragedy of doing so to serve selfish purpose.<br />
He said it is the responsibility of all to fight the unemployment monster that has brought the country to the current situation.<br />
Go’ar called on the Federal Government to constitute a panel to unearth the causes of the tragedy.<br />
Go’ar who is representing Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam Federal
Constituency, said “what happened at the Nigeria Immigration Service
aptitude test last Saturday is an eye opener”.<br />
National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) also promised to investigate
the circumstances that lead to the death of job seekers at the NIS
screening centres.<br />
The commission expressed concern over what it called “avoidable death of about 20 persons who participated in the exercise”.<br />
The NHRC charged organisations in the country to ensure that the
human rights of Nigerians were taken seriously in their work to avoid
such incident in future.<br />
Executive Secretary of the NHRC, Bem Angwe, spoke on this indication
in Abuja when he received in audience members of Citizens Advocacy for
Social and Economic Rights who came to lodge their complaint against the
NIS with regard to the ill fated recruitment exercise.<br />
At its own plenary, the Senate also asked the executive arm of
government to work out a Marshall plan to tackle the intractable and
increasing unemployment menace in the country.<br />
Like the House, the Senate also condoled with the families of those who lost their lives in the stampede.<br />
The Senate resolution followed a motion of Urgent Public Importance
brought by Chairman of the Senate Committee on Interior, Atiku Bagudu,
together with 10 other.<br />
The motion was entitled, ‘Nigerian Immigration Service Nationwide Aptitude Test and Physical Examination of March 15, 2014’.<br />
Bagudu who also led the debate on the motion, reminded the Senate of
the recruitment exercise and noted that the Head of Service of the
Federation had in 2011 granted approval for the recruitment of 4,556
personnel of various cadre for the Immigration Service.<br />
The lawmaker said 700,772 reportedly applied for the NIS jobs, with
about 70, 000 applicants registered at the Abuja test centre.<br />
He said the exercise was held under the coordination of the
Comptrollers of Immigration in the states and the FCT, with one
representative of the Board in each centre.<br />
Bagudu, however, regretted that the exercise resulted in the loss of lives and several injuries.<br />
In his one contribution, Ita Enang urged the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on employment.<br />
He lamented that “in the last five to eight years, only the
para-military organisations are offering employment, as the
manufacturing industries offer little or no employment to Nigerians”.<br />
Also, Ayogu Eze (Enugu-PDP) called for the cancellation of the
controversial recruitment exercise, and punishment of those involved in
its management.<br />
Gbenga Obadara (Ogun-APC) described the NIS incident as a national tragedy.<br />
He lamented that unemployment was killing Nigeria as a country.<br />
Sani Gumba (Bauchi-PDP) blamed the Ministry of Interior and the NIS
for the poor handling of the exercise, stating that they ought to have
grouped the applicants in batches to avoid the stampede that occurred as
a result of the congestion of the centres.<br />
The Senate Caucus of the All Progressive Congress (APC) also urged
President Goodluck Jonathan to sack Abba Moro as Minister of Interior.<br />
In a statement,Senate APC Caucus spokesman, Babafemi Ojudu, also
called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on
employment in Nigeria.

Ahead of the 2015 general election, the Director-General of the
National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier-General Johnson Olawumi, has
warned corps members not to engage in electoral fraud.<br />
Olawunmi issued this warning during his visit to the Rivers State
Permanent Orientation Camp in Nonwa Gbam, Tai Local Government Area.<br />
He reminded corps members that <br />
<a name='more'></a>they were not employees of the
Independent National Electoral Commission and should not collect any
financial inducement from anyone.<br />
Promising that the NYSC will pay corps members’ allowances promptly,
Olawunmi pointed out that plans were in place to ensure the security and
safety of corps members in the country.<br />
“I am using the opportunity to caution corps members not to engage in
any election fraud or malpractice during the 2015 general election. You
should also shun any financial inducement from anyone.<br />
“We promised to deliver corps members who came to serve their
fatherland back to their parents in good health. We will pay your
allowances promptly through the NYSC,” Olawunmi said.<br />
He urged corps members to desist from unauthorized journey, recalling
that some NYSC members had in the past been involved in road accidents
while travelling without permission.<br />
The NYSC boss advised corps members that rather than embark on
unnecessary journeys, they should always meet their zonal and local
government officers to help them solve their challenges.<br />
On the skills acquisition training at the orientation camp, Olawunmi
urged them to pay attention to the programme and strive to become more

</h3>
<div>
In this part of the world, it is seen as a mark of affluence when
foods are accompanied by the generous servings of beef. The average beef
aficionado that the Westerners in Nigeria <b><i>(Yoruba)</i></b> call <b><i>‘orisirisi’</i></b>.</div>
<div>
The <b><i>orisirisi</i></b> is a mouth-watering</div>
and appetite-inducing potpourri (<b><i>ponmo</i></b>), and organ meat like tripe, liver, lungs, kidney, appendix, heart, intestines and other internal foods.<br />
<div>
Indeed when you talk of <br />
<a name='more'></a>a typical Yoruba Soup ‘<b><i>Efo riro</i></b>’
that is the Vegetable Soup, the dish cannot be regarded as complete
without the presence of orisirisi, which usually makes the vegetable a <b><i>‘foreigner’</i></b> in a dish named after it.</div>
<div>
Some high profile hotels serve efo riro ‘<b><i>elemi meje’ </i></b>that is seven lives; meaning a well seasoned vegetable soup with assorted meats.</div>
<div>
Researchers in recent times are beginning to draw attention to the
possibility dangers in eating too much animal protein, of which the beef
(meat) is an integral part.</div>
<div>
Recently, the internet community went viral with the report of a
study published in the online journal, Nature Medicine, warning that a
compound abundant in red meat- carniture- has been detected to promote
atherosclerosis (hardening or clogging of the arteries).</div>
<div>
Dr. Stanley Hazen, the section head of preventive Cardiology and
Rehabilitation, Miller family Heart and Vascular Institute, Cleveland
Clinic, United States of America, led the researchers.</div>
<div>
They found out that increased <i>Carnitine </i>levels in patients
predicted increased risks for cardiovascular disease and major cardiac
events like heart attack, stroke and death.</div>
<div>
The bacteria living in our digestive tracts are dictated by our
long term dietary patterns. A diet high in carnitine actually shifts our
gut microbe composition to those that like carnitine, making meat
consumers even more susceptible to its artery-clogging effects. Hazen
said.</div>
<div>
Still the researchers contend, carnitine is not an essential
nutrient; as the human body naturally produces all the carnitine it
needs. What this means logically is that if ever we need eat meat, it
must be in small quantity.</div>
<div>
Nutritionists say red meat sure has a nutritional benefit to the
overall growth of the health. A dietician, Dr. Rosemary Ogbebor, says,
red meat is high in iron, which is very important to the teenage girls
and women in their childbearing years. The body easily absorbs the iron
in the red meat.</div>
<div>
Again the red meat supplies the body with vitamin B12, which helps
the body to make DNA and keep nerve and red blood cells healthy. It also
contains zinc, which keeps the immune system working properly.
Moreover, red meat provides protein, which helps to build bones and
muscles.</div>
<div>
The red meat is one of the most nutrient-rich foods, because a
small serving of lean beef contributes only 180 calories, but you get
many essential nutrients such as omega 3, niacin, vitamin B6,
phosphorus, riboflavin and possibly vitamin D.</div>
<div>
Nutritionists are of the opinion that red meat should not be caught
off totally from the regular diet. They advocate portion control, and
also counsel that it should not be allowed to crowd out fruits,
vegetable and whole grains during any meal.</div>
<div>
They also advise that when buying red meat, you should opt for lean
meat, instead of fat-ridden parts like the torso and organs meats.</div>
<div>
Professor of Reproductive Endocrinology and Medical Director of
MART Life-Detox Clinic, Lagos, Oladipo Ashiru, warns that excessive
consumption of beef could shorten life span.</div>
<div>
Through meat is a rich source of protein, too much of it a diet could pose long term cardiovascular risks.</div>
<div>
He also warns that a diet bathed in excessive red meat could lead
to a decline in the kidney functions and lead to gout (Swollen joints);
in addition contributing to the increase risks of heart disease and
cancer.</div>
<div>
He says eating too much of meat, fish and other key sources of
protein contribute to the state of bad health, because they take longer
to digest. When you eat lots of protein and meat, it takes significantly
time to digest.</div>
<div>
This is because meat takes time to be broken down, and that means
that the enzymes in the stomach and the intestines will have lots of
work to do to process them. It really takes time to process this down
compared to the vegetables and fruits.</div>
<div>
A nutritionist with the UNICEF, Dr. John Egbuta, is of the view
that the real danger is not in the red meat; rather it is the
presentation.</div>
<div>
This is because, with the frying comes the excessive absorption of
oil, which then increases the fat content and result in health
complications, including high cholesterol, which is hazardous to the
body.</div>

<i><span style="color: #444444;"><strong style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;">The Senate Committee on Defence and Army </strong><strong style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;">on Wednesday </strong><strong style="font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;">passed a resolution directing the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Kenneth Minimah to relocate his office to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital in order to step up the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency.</strong></span></i></h1>
<div class="article-i" id="article_block" itemprop="articleBody" style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22px;">
<div style="margin-top: 12px;">
<img alt="photo" itemprop="image" src="http://img.naij.com/n/0e/8/armyy.jpg" style="border: none; display: block;" vspace="5" /></div>
<div style="margin-top: 12px;">
The resolution followed the massacre of about 50 students of Federal Government College in Yobe State on Tuesday by the insurgents.</div>
<div style="margin-top: 12px;">
The development came just as </div>
<a name='more'></a>the Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma Egba and the Chairman, Senate Committee on Environment and Ecology, Senator Bukola Saraki, in separate statements, described the perpetrators of the massacre as “bunch of animals.”<br />
<div style="margin-top: 12px;">
The Defence Committee passed the resolution when the Chief of Army Staff led top officers to the upper chamber on 2014 Budget defence .</div>
<div style="margin-top: 12px;">
The issue of Yobe massacre was raised by a member of the committee, Senator Babafemi Ojudu through a point of order predicated on orders 42 and 102 of the Senate standing rules.</div>
<div style="margin-top: 12px;">
The Committee in a two-page statement containing the resolutions, explained that, it came up with the decison after they engaged in a two-hour brainstorming session with the Army chief on the way forward out of the Boko Haram menace in the North Eastern part of the country.</div>
<div style="margin-top: 12px;">
It directed the Chief of Army Staff to relocate his office temporarily to the 7th Division of Nigerian Army in Maiduguri for urgent and appropriate steps to quell the insurgents’ repeated attacks in the area.</div>
<div style="margin-top: 12px;">
The Committee also directed the Nigerian Army under Minimah to re-strategise on possible new ways of curbing Boko Haram excesses in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states by mobilising all available military resources in fighting the insurgents.</div>
<div style="margin-top: 12px;">
The statement reads in part: “The Senate Committee on Defence and Army condemned the atrocity being unleashed by the Boko Haram element on innocent citizens of Nigeria and in particular the Tuesday massacre of students of Federal Government College Buni Yadi in Yobe State where scores of Students were gruesomely killed.</div>
<div style="margin-top: 12px;">
“The Committee has by this, issued a directive that the Chief of Army Staff take the following actions (a), Re-strategise on possible new ways of curbing these excesses, (b) mobilise all available military resources and face the insurgencies., relocate your office to Maiduguri for urgent actions to curtail the repeated attacks of the insurgents on innocent Nigerians.”</div>
<div style="margin-top: 12px;">
The Committee led by Senator George Sekibo, also said all Schools and Health Institutions should also be provided with special security to prevent repeat of the senseless attacks and killings of the innocent ones.</div>
<div style="margin-top: 12px;">
It gave express approval to the 2014 budget of the Nigerian Army, and told the Army Chief that what was of utmost priority to it now was quelling the killing spree going on in the North East through Boko Haram insurgency and not the budget details.</div>
<div style="margin-top: 12px;">
The committee further noted that “No one goes to the town square to dance when there is fire”, hence it will take a tour of the troubled area upon resumption of the Senate for plenary as from March 11.</div>
<div style="margin-top: 12px;">
It also called on President Jonathan to rise up to the challenge by mobilizing resources for the Armed Forces to fight the war against insurgents decisively.</div>

"It's a little bit of bowing to the inevitable," said Justin Lafferty, editor of the trade site Inside Facebook. The e-mail addresses, which showed up as messages for Facebook users, never took off, and when Facebook tried to make them the default e-mail accounts for all users in mid-2012, "a lot of people were unhappy with that," he said.</div>

Facebook ventured into the e-mail field in November 2010, adding the service to the messaging system already used heavily by its 1.2 billion users. Didier Drogba has said former club Chelsea are ''10 times better'' than his current side, Galatasaray, ahead of the teams' Champions League meeting in Istanbul on Wednesday.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
''Are Chelsea better than Galatasaray? Yes, they are 10 times better,'' the Galatasaray striker, now 35, told the BBC on the eve of the last 16 clash.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
''If I play it is to</div>
<a name='more'></a> win. It will be tough but Juve were better than us, so anything can happen. If there's a one percent chance of us winning, I'll believe it.''<br />
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Drogba spent eight years at Chelsea, scoring 157 goals in 342 games and won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups and also scored the winning penalty against Bayern Munich in the 2012 Champions League final - his final kick in a Blues shirt.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

''It will be difficult,'' he said of playing against the London club.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
''You don't stay eight years in a place you don't like, especially in football - it is very emotional. I love Chelsea but I play for Galatasaray now and I will give everything for them.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
''When you're happy at a club, you want to stay forever,'' said Drogba who joined Chelsea from Marseille for STG24 million ($A44.5 million) in July 2004.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
''But sometimes you can't do everything you want to do. I am proud of what I achieved.''</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Asked about the possibility of working again with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, the Ivory Coast forward said: ''They say in French 'avec des si. Rome ne s'est pas construite en un jour' (there are lots of ifs. Rome wasn't built in a day). It is only if and if and if. We are not there yet.''</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
And he insisted he was happy working under current boss Roberto Mancini, the former Manchester City manager.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
''They're very different, two different personalities but with the same mentality. They want to win, they want to win trophies. They are winners.''</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
But he said he was still friendly with Mourinho.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
''There is a lot of respect. When there is somebody that important, who looks at you like a friend, you forget that he is 'The Special One' and you are the striker. ''It is a man-to-man relationship, a friendship.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
''These kind of moments are special, because they are very important, very precious. He was the one who helped me to make my decision to come to play for Chelsea.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
''He was always fair with me. When I deserved to play, I played. When I didn't, I didn't. That is why I respected him so much.''</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
And Drogba said that when Mourinho, now in his second spell as Chelsea manager, left Stamford Bridge in 2007 he too considered quitting the west London club.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
''Yes I did. When you are young and emotional you react straight away and later you end up realising it was not the right thing.</div>

''Maybe I'd have dealt with it differently today, but I was affected because the man who believed in me was leaving. It was normal.''</div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 17.02400016784668px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<div style="color: #464646;">
Ousted Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has finally concretised his threat to sue President Goodluck Jonathan over his removal as head of the bank last week.</div>
<div style="color: #464646;">
According to a suit filed at a Federal High Court sitting in </div>
<a name='more'></a>Abuja late on Monday, Sanusi is challenging his suspension from office; and he has implored the court to, among others, restrain the president — alongside Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) — from giving effect to his suspension, pending the determination of his lawsuit.<br />
<div style="color: #464646;">
He is also seeking an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the defendants from obstructing, disturbing, stopping or preventing him in any manner, from performing the functions of his office and enjoying in full, the statutory powers and privileges attached to the office of the governor of the CBN.</div>
<div style="color: #464646;">
Making a case for the reasons why the court should grant the prayers in his interlocutory application, he said the president’s unlawful interference with the management and administration of the CBN can only be left unaddressed at the expense of the country’s economy. Granting his application, he argued, will encourage parties to maintain the status quo until the determination of the substantive case.</div>
<div style="color: #464646;">
In a supporting affidavit, Sanusi maintained that his suspension is the consequence of his outcry over the $20bn in crude oil sales that was unremitted by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). He explained that while performing his duties as Governor of CBN, he discovered certain discrepancies in respect of amounts repatriated to the federation account from the proceed of crude oil sales between the period of January 2012 and July 2013.</div>
<div style="color: #464646;">
He said he expressed concerns about the said discrepancies and went ahead to notify the National Assembly, considering its huge effect on revenue of the federation and the national economy. His suspension, he insisted, is aimed at punishing him for the disclosures.</div>
<div style="color: #464646;">
Sanusi stated clearly that he was challenging the president’s power to suspend him from office, especially as the Senate was not approached to ratify the decision.</div>
<div style="color: #464646;">
“I have been informed, and I verily believe the information given to me by Senator Bukola Saraki to be true and correct that the Senate did not give the president any support for my purported suspension and removal from office as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria”, a part of the document read.</div>
<div style="color: #464646;">
He described his suspension as a contravention of provisions of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act relating to the appointment and removal of the CBN Governor. He therefore branded the act an unlawful interference in the administration and management of the apex bank, which is illegal, null and void.</div>
<div style="color: #464646;">
President Goodluck Jonathan suspended Sanusi Lamido as CBN Governor on 20th February 2014, claiming reliance on a report of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) that indicted the governor of “financial recklessness and misconduct”.</div>
<div style="color: #464646;">
But the widespread belief is that Sanusi’s suspension was triggered by his well-documented outspokenness, particularly his recent revelation of NNPC’s failure to remit $20bn in crude oil sales to the federation account.</div>
<div style="color: #464646;">
During his presidential media chat yesterday, Jonathan claimed that Sanusi remains the governor of CBN, yet the president nominated both an Acting Governor and a substantive replacement for Sanusi exactly on the day his suspension was announced.</div>

Legal practitioner and Vice Chair of the Brussels-based International Crisis Group (ICG) , Ms. Ayo Obe says suspended governor of the Nigerian Central Bank, Mr. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is still the governor of the Central Bank despite his suspension by President Goodluck Jonathan. She says looking at the issue from a legal point of view, the embattled governor has not been removed entirely and that is why the President appointed someone to act in his place instead of appointing another substantive governor. "He remains the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, but that for practical purposes he is prevented from carrying out his duties as the Governor of the Central Bank and that is why the President also named somebody to be <br />
<a name='more'></a>acting Central Bank Governor", she said. </div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #464646; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;">
President Goodluck Jonathan suspended Mr. Lamido Sanusi last week for financial impropriety, activating a heated debate on the motive and legality of such a move.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #464646; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;">
Speaking on Sahara TV's live weekly broadcast however, Ms. Obe said the term of the CBN governor expires in June anyway and the President was expected to appoint someone to replace him. However the unexpected suspension of Mr. Lamido Sanusi has thrown that timetable off-balance.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #464646; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;">
Ms. Obe was who reacting to questions on the legality of Mr. Sanusi's suspension indicated that the President needed a majority two-thirds vote from the senate in order to fully remove the governor and thus suspending him was probably his next best option. She also said it lies in the ambit of the governor to go to court to seek redress as has already been indicated by Mr. Sanusi. "If the power of suspension can be used to circumvent the requirements of the act, then no Central Bank governor will be safe" she proffered, drawing attention to the fact that the purported reason for the suspension is to launch an investigation into corruption allegations against the embattled governor. She however suggested that the so-called investigations will also be controlled by the Executive and thus could be unduly stretched or manipulated to the advantage of President Jonathan.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #464646; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;">
She said the whole issue borders on political intrigue. "Although one is talking about this from the legal point of view, we all have to recognize that what is going on here is politics Alpha and Omega". Miss Obe who doubles as the President of the human rights platform Civil Liberties Organization, Nigeria, also offered her opinion on the question of an independent audit supporting calls by the coordinating Minister of the economy Miss Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as well as a former vice president of the World Bank and a former Minister in the Obasanjo regime, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili for such an audit.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #464646; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;">
She said Nigerians are not likely to accept any results of a local audit and thus it would serve everyone's purpose for international independent auditors to be appointed. "Definitely it would be better if there could be some transparency about the appointments because we tend to trust the international voice more than we trust the local voice" she added.</div>

<div style="background-color: white; color: #081f2c; font-family: Arial, 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20.736000061035156px;">
Amuneke was assistant to coach Manu Garba who led the Golden Eaglets to win the U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates last year.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #081f2c; font-family: Arial, 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20.736000061035156px;">
Garba and one of his assistants Nduka Ugbade, a former Nigeria international, have been drafted to lead the Nigeria U20 team, the Flying Eagles.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #081f2c; font-family: Arial, 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20.736000061035156px;">
According to Emmanuel Ikpeme head of the NFF's technical committee, his choice was to ensure continuity because of his contributions to the last U17 team.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #081f2c; font-family: Arial, 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20.736000061035156px;">
"We have opted for continuity because these coaches are highly experienced and qualified to continue with the progress we are making," Emmanuel Ikpeme told <em>BBC Sport.</em></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #081f2c; font-family: Arial, 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 20.736000061035156px;">
"We've had a couple of disappointing experiences in the past and it was felt that we couldn't take the same route again.</div>

<span style="background-color: white;">Her name is Gabriella. Says she's an aspiring Victoria Secret model and actress. Not sure where she's from though. Gabriella, via her instagram account @bambiiiii_ shared her recent sad experience of domestic violence from her boyfriend of eight months. She was badly beaten, thrown from a moving vehicle and dragged. She shared this photo of her injury above on her instagram page and wrote:</span><br /><blockquote class="tr_bq" style="background-color: white;">
"This might be a little graphic but I just want to let everyone know that I am okay. I am a survivor of domestic violence with a boy I dated for 8 months. I really thought everything was fine but he constantly questioned me about cheating and flirting. Nonsense. I never looked at someone the way he looked at me. Thought I loved this boy. How can someone that 'loves' me do this to me? The scars on my chest are way worse and extend down to my right nipple, completely scarred. The skin on my shoulder has been completely skinned. And I have bruising on my rib cage, neck, and my muscles. I was kicked out of a moving vehicle, then beaten and dragged, as I blacked out and was left lying there in my own puddle of blood. Doctors said I could have died if not made it when I did. I am so blessed and beyond lucky to be alive and have so much support from friends, family, and strangers. As I try to recover I ask to please keep me in your prayers. I have to wear a neck brace for 3-4 weeks, an arm cast and I can barely walk for now. Thank you for all the love. I hope to be an inspiration to women and anyone involved in domestic violence.</blockquote>

<span style="color: #323232; line-height: 33.599998474121094px;">Dear Spread Naija News readers,</span></h3>
<div class="post-body entry-content" id="post-body-6926326414398619631" itemprop="description articleBody" style="background-color: white; color: #323232; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; line-height: 33.599998474121094px; position: relative; width: 676px;">
Ironically this happened a day after she told me that she was carrying my baby. The strange thing is that my father and my wife are behaving as if nothing out of the ordinary happened. My father simply got up from my matrimonial bed and ordered me to follow him.<br /><a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="more"></a><img src="http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/17qd3ip2bd9gmjpg/ku-xlarge.jpg" /><br />In my living room, he gave me a <a name='more'></a>cheque of N25m to buy myself a car of my choice while my wife went into the kitchen to prepare dinner. The whole thing appeared to be like a movie as I looked from my father to my wife. A present more powerful than me held me down, preventing me from going after either my father or wife.<br />I eventually summoned the courage to move and found myself going towards my mother's apartment. When I got there and narrated the whole incident to her, she begged me not to fight or say anything about it to anybody. My elder brother who came into my mother's apartment while I was narrating the incident, laughed and patted me on my shoulders without saying anything.<br />My immediate elder sister, who has refused to come back to Nigeria from London since she left eight years ago, wasn't surprised by my story. She only told me to take things easy and not try to make trouble with my wife if I valued my life. I am the last born of three children and the favorite of my father in particular. That night, my mother came into our apartment to take my wife with her. I didn't sleep throughout the night wondering what strange things were going on in my family.<br />The next day as early as 6a.m., my father came over to my apartment to more or less warn me about trying to make trouble. He told me what I witnessed was beyond me and that it would continue to be the pattern until he got tired. After he left, I ran to my friend's place who in turn took me to Epe to consult with a spiritualist. Without much ado, the spiritualist, told me that I will learn to live with the situation else I would become insane if I try to challenge my father.He said, not even my mother can challenge my father. He said, my father has gone too far to change and that things have been damaged beyond repairs in the things he has done to us; that it would take the grace of God for my siblings and I to overcome the spiritual problems my father in his quest for power, money and fame has done. He too advised me to continue to tolerate the situation by accepting to live with my wife who he said, was brought into my life by my father for his purpose.<br />Two days after our visit, the friend that took me is critically ill in the hospital. doctors are yet to say what precisely is wrong with him. I don't need anybody to tell me where the attack is coming from. This has made me very determined to fight my father to a standstill. I want to confront and expose him for all his friends and associates to know who he really is. I am yet to return home after that day. At night I keep seeing my father in my dream telling me to come home for my own good. My mother and elder brother have been relentless on the phone urging me to come back home.<br />We all live within the massive family compound which is actually a mini estate as all our domestic employees with their family live within the compound. My father doesn't allow anyone working for him in the house to live outside the premises. He insists on it and has a school bus that takes all the children of his staff to and from school, my mother runs.<br />Please help me as I am so confused. I feel sorry for everybody in that house. How do I challenge my father and still be alive to tell my story. I feel so helpless and lost. Do save me.<br /><div style="clear: both;">
